The festive mood of the holiday season can already be felt in almost all parts of the globe. As soon as the Christmas carols are being played in the shopping centers or over the radio; and the holiday traffic is already being felt in the major thoroughfares. Take that as a sign that the Christmas season is just around the corner. Monterey, being a year-round destination has a fair share of Christmas weekend activities and events ideal for the whole family. Cannery Row Tree Lighting 

Start celebrating the Christmas season early with a spectacular tree lighting ceremony happening in Cannery Row. Now on its 24th year, this event is ideal for the whole family who want to have an early Christmas experience. There will be Christmas carolers, balloon artists, reindeers and a special participation of Santa Claus himself.

There will be unforgettable dances, awesome music-making and jaw-dropping performances of Christmas carols. This will definitely going to be a great Irish night your whole family shouldn’t dare miss.

Christmas in the Adobes 

History buffs will surely love Christmas in the adobes. This event will take everyone back to the old days of California. There will be lovely music, living history portrayers and many more. This year, 23 historic downtown buildings in Monterey are opening their doors to the visitors.  Luminaria paper lanterns line to the entrance of each house to welcome the visitors. Your family will be fascinated with the 14th century decorations and period clothing worn by some volunteers.

The Nutcracker
